About this book:
This book is the narrative version of the Dragon Dance Theatre performance that was presented in Launaguet, France in 2017. The text was collected by author Bernardo Olmedo. The main themes are the ongoing nuclear crisis, and the empowerment of women. The drama is set on Mount Olympus and features Zeus as CEO of the Mount Olympus Nuclear Power Company and Aphrodite as his co-conspirator. We witness the rapt of Koré by Hades and her transformation to Persephone, Goddess of Destruction.
Dragon Dance Theatre has been making cultural exchange projects in Mexico and around the world since 1976. We work with local stories, legends and cosmologies, which we integrate with contemporary concerns of the participants. These collective creations lead to a form of expression that is broadly understood. To this end, we continue to do our work of residential workshops and public performances, bringing diverse peoples together to work on real issues and ethical questions in creative ways.
